- 1.1 What Is SPIROTRIS
- ----------------------
- SPIROTRIS is a fast-paced and strategic game. Through 50 levels and
- more (10 in the shareware version), you have to drop rows of blocks.
- Each time 3 or more blocks of the same color are aligned (either
- horizontally, vertically or diagonally), they disappear.
- There are also bombs to help you to get rid of certain blocks. As
- you progress through the game, a picture slowly reveals itself in the
- background.
- Your goal is to drop all the blocks and to leave enough space in the
- 'pit' for the next ones.
-
-
- 1.2 Why should I register ?
- ---------------------------
-
- The Pro Version has the following features :
-
- - unlimited levels of gameplay (through the first 50 levels
- you have the option to discover a picture, beyond this...)
- - more kind of bombs to help you through your journey
- -- Filler bomb
- -- Death bomb
- -- Alpha bomb <-- NASTY ONE !
- - you can 'buy' dynamite to destroy more easily blocks
- - you have the option to play with or without a set of pictures
- i.e.: spiro <- play with no picture to discover
- spiro fish.bnk <- play with this set of pictures
- - 'special' key to jump 10 levels ahead (but your score is not
- saved of course !)
- - 50 superb pictures to discover
- -- Animals I (10)
- -- Fishes (10)
- -- Cars (10)
- -- Varied I (10)
- -- Varied II (10)
- - 1 year support via internet (geo@llc.org) or by phone
- - personnalized version

- 2.0 Installing SPIROTRIS
- -------------------------
- If you can read this document, you have already installed SPIROTRIS.
- This product has a install program. You just have to run it to
- install SPIROTRIS.
-
- 3.0 Using SPIROTRIS
- --------------------
- Start SPIROTRIS by entering the following at your DOS prompt:
-
- SPIRO
-
- Choose your language. The default is english.
-
- You'll run in the intro. Press a key.
-
- From here you have 3 choices :
- - Play a game
- - View the best
- - Quit
-
- View the best and quit are quite obvious.
-
- **** The blinking dot at the right corner tell you to press a key
- **** to continue.
-
- Play a game start you at level 1.
- [space bar also play a game]
-
- You'll have a row of blocks at the top.
- Right and left arrow moves the row toward left or right.
- Space bar drops the row.
- Your goal is to align at least 3 (4 in the upper levels) blocks
- of the same colors. Then they'll disappear.
-
- The 'tab' key will display (or hide) your results.
- F1 : Quick help
- F10 : See the picture
- s : toggle sound effects on/off
- ESC : quit (you'll be prompt to confirm)
-
- The box at the left bottom display on its upper part the current
- level and on its lower part your score.
- There's a TV at your right. You'll see a kind of preview of
- the picture in the background (F10 see the picture).
-
- As you progress through each level, the picture is slowly revealed.
- At the end of each 5 level (i.e. 5-6, 10-11, 15-16, ...), SPIROTRIS
- will automatically display the picture and a new one will be 'hidden'.
-
- **** So at level 1,6,11,... the picture will be black because it will
- will be completely hidden.
-
- In the registered version, the computer choosed randomly which
- picture to hide.
-
- ****
- ****** If a single block remain 'jammed' at the top (after each bomb
- ****** exploded). You lose.
- ****
-
- Blocks at the top can only drop. They won't be affected by
- explosions and so forth.
-
- **** And they won't affect blocks below them. (they are 'out' of the
- pit).
-
- There are 5 kinds of colored blocks. In the low levels, only the
- firsts colors appear, later more kind of blocks are generated.
-
- To help you (well not always), other kinds of blocks are
- generated :
-
- ? : they are 'joker' blocks, they replace any color
- <iron> : only a block of kind (D) can destroy it
- [dynamite] : (D) destroy all around (3x3)
- [space] : a free space
- [multi-colored] : (D) generate new blocks all around (3x3)
- Create any kind of blocks (even those of high
- levels).
- [rainbow] : works only on color blocks, change their color.
- Works only if a block remain on its top.
- May create any colors (even those of high levels).
- <-> : (D) destroy the current line
- <- : (D) destroy all the blocks toward left. Work only if a block
- remain on its top.
- -> : (D) destroy all the blocks toward right. Work only if a block
- remain on its top.
- [left gnome] : move the line by 1 toward left
- [right gnome] : move the line by 1 toward right
-
- * REGISTERED VERSION :
- * [alpha] : randomly change all blocks of the same color on screen
- * to another one.
- * [filler] : fill all remaining space (minus 1 row at the top) with
- * randomly generated blocks (use a low level seed).
- * [death] : destroy 3x3,
- * destroy all iron blocks on screen and
- * destroy randomly some blocks on screen.
-
- Order of explosion :
- : death
- : dynamite
- : <->
- : <- and ->
- : alpha
- : rainbow
- : multi-colored
- : gnomes
- : filler
-
- i.e.: a dynamite near a rainbow. The dynamite one will destroy
- the rainbow block. The rainbow block won't 'function' (since
- it no more exist)
-
- The shareware version will end at the beginning of the 11th level.
-
